Aloha,
Today was interesting. It started with me going with Stephanie to the flower wholesaler and learning how to make a bouquet (she used to be in floral design). We went to the little wholesale place and walked in three or four refrigerators full of flowers and ended up leaving with blushing bride, freesia, astilbe, spray roses and 50 cm roses...IN PINK and ivory colors. I was freezing/loving my life in the little refrigerators. I love flowers and all the colors were really inspiring for me trying to figure out logo colors, etc. Anyways, it ended up being SO much fun and so refreshing to get out of the house. The wholesaler was in this area called Wailea so which isn't too close, so we my day in the office didn't really start until 10:30 or so.
I literally died right here. I LOVE ROSES. So classically cliche. Right before I left for Maui, my friend Sophia and I went to the Botanical Gardens. I may have entered a state of perfect bliss in the Rockefeller Rose Garden. Literally we just sat in the garden and took it all in. I'll always remember that. So beautiful...and so colorful. I used to love the "blushing" roses but now I really am leaning towards the amnesia roses...love that color. Seriously, its just a great flower. I don't care what anyone has to say. I LOVE ROSES AND THAT IS ALL.
So we got back to the Mill and set up the flowers to start our little bouquet lesson...
That's Corine's mother on the right. She came to Maui to visit Corine and spent her birthday over here. She has such a sweet childlike innocence to her that made everyone fall immediately in love with her.
The bouquet is coming along!! I learned so many little tricks about floral tape, bunching flowers, blowing into them to make them look 'perfect' and other tidbits. It was actually really interesting to see it all come together.
We tried with a small ribbon at first. It was extremely rustic and feminine. I really liked it....
...but decided on a big bow! ah, who do I think I am?
Ladies, this is where you hold your bouquet! For future whatevers, it goes LOW. I have such a pet peeve when they're higher. It just makes everything look awkward (in my opinion). Also, it was windy and my hair is going crazy. GOODNESS.
Final product! Put it in some water and a little vase to hold it up but SO pretty. What a romantic bouquet. It's not quite my personal "wedding style" per say, but it's still extraordinarily beautiful. I'd say my personal style would lean toward a GIANT over the top bouquet created with a solid flower. Probably roses and spray roses and crazy beautiful. I've known this forever though, ala sweet sixteen memory inserted here...
As some of my friends know, I've been having a somewhat rough time adjusting to everything here. I'm having a GREAT time when I go out and see places and its absolutely beautiful, but it's really different than what I'm used to and things aren't exactly what I expected so it's been a little difficult. Getting through it though and things are much better so hopefully I'll be a lot happier. It's just been a rough week. Things are actually amazing and I shouldn't have a single complaint about my life. It was just a really ROUGH week...
I mean how could I actually really complain? I live HERE.
Just so you all know where I am. Someone obviously felt a little isolated and this was one of the world map diagrams that came up on Google Images. LOL. They even circled it. I am literally in the most isolated place in the entire world. Kind of mind blowing, especially because I thrive on being social and outgoing and everywhere.
Sam (earlier post) uploaded this to FB and wrote "She's somewhere out there.." and tagged a bunch of friends. So sweet. After a rough day he had NO idea about, this was on FB. I swear I keep the best of friends. I'm waving from the other side of the Pacific again. HI!
Also, after my post about my SUPERSTAR lil bug sister this is what was on my FB wall:
RUDE.
Anyways, off to bed. Friday night 10pm. How am I even going to attempt to hang for my birthday this year? Maybe we can rent out the retirement home for a few hours and drink some grape juice or something.....
With warmest aloha,
MJ
