Aloha readers :)

Before you start, click this and start reading... serious mood music. I keep hearing this song on the radio and it reminds me of the same person every time I hear it. Isn't it funny how some people/memories never truly seem to escape you? It seems crazy to me anyways. Hindsight seems to truly be 20/20. Anyways, I digress...

Today was definitely an eventful day for me. Made one of my first "big girl" moves. I won't delve too much into that but I'm extremely proud of myself. I'll be home sooner rather than later, friends. I potentially have a ride home from the airport....but if anyone wants to be the FIRST person to see me when I land in New York, know I am taking all offers into serious consideration.

Anyways, this morning I ran into Kahului to get some Microsoft Office thing for one of the Mac's here. It makes me feel incredibly computer savvy, being with people who didn't grow up with the computer as their arbitrary, almost secondary limb the way I feel like I did (as probably most of my peers feel too)...if that makes any sense at all. There's a good chance that won't make sense, and because I don't reread these posts here is my formal apology: Sorry if they don't make sense. I don't care. Read if you'd like. Look at the pictures. Whatever, make sense of it if you want to! Hah. Back to my point, computers seem so second nature to me...and even I feel so behind the times! Here, I'm a computer goddess. I know all. I can literally fix any and everything. How amazing. I had no idea. Talk about a real ego boost-- and I'm most certainly the last person that needs that!

Running into Kahului. Mountains straight ahead. Ho'okeeps to my right, Haleakala to my left and driving through a fake desert of sugar cane. I'M IN SENSORY OVERLOAD! This can't (and most certainly is NOT) be representative of real life!

Anyways, as I was waiting for for the technicians to help me out with downloading and installing the programs, I walked around the marketplace. Saw some cool things...

What is this? Who has even seen a liquor store like this?! I went to dinner with Cindy and Jason and told them I had gone to Kahului. Their immediate response, "Oh, they have a good liquor store there". Me: "Is it that corny looking one that says 'Liquor, Liquor' Liquor'"....see above.

After Kahului, I went to lunch at Des Amies.... more like I walked into Lilikoi after I saw Cindy's car and told her we should get crepes. Crazy small town over here. She knew this guy (who I just managed to eye on my way to Des Amies) and we hit it off...barely, and by barely I mean not at all. Although Cindy was adamant about letting me know he was into me. Whatever, small town. Maui should get over the fact I wear super tight and ruffled maxi's to Colleen's, and that I will forever be dressed to go somewhere. Even with my fake halo afro whichever way I decide to do my hair because none of my products will work over here- awful conundrum- I will be tall, and by default, look different because I'm the new girl and brown. Back to this man, I am still in love with his eyes. Blue like St. Barths by the way of Baldwin on a great day...or Ho'okipa on a good day. Blue like I've never seen. Whatever (Cindy, stop laughing and put me on!), I'm still single so it looks like I will be coming back stateside. I have no reason to stay here (CINDY HELP!) like most of the people who just happen to fall in love over here and stay forever. Wouldn't be mad if I was looking into blue eyes for 65 years though. My dad has blue eyes. MAYBE BECAUSE THE GENE IS RECESSIVE IT WILL JUMP AND MY KIDS WILL HAVE BLUE EYES! A DREAM!! Lol. Anywho, he has a dog and I am  still borderline terrified of animals so it's looking like it won't work out. I might be able to make an exception...or an active decision to TRY to be a big girl over here if Mr. Blue Eyes comes wandering my way...

Also, for the most embarrassing part of this: After I got my crepe, Cindy and Mr. Blue Eyes were talking a bit and I was out of this world hungry so I sat down next to him and started eating. Kind of rude, but I really couldn't stand any longer because Cindy and him wanted to have the longest conversation in the entire world about something that was less concerning than me trying to eat. Anyways, Cindy goes "you can stay and meet me when you're done eating" and I go, "no, I'm coming" and pick up my box and bounce. On the way to her store she goes, "you retard. I was trying to give you a minute!" and I was like...F. Anyways, we get back to her store and she goes "you should totally give him your number". Sidenote: I can be incredibly awkward when I want to be. Whatever. I go, "okay, Cindy". She whips out a piece of paper and a pen (we are back in 1992 doing things old school style) and I write my info on it. She goes, "you should put a link to your blog on it" and I go, "really? no? okay". Cindy's all like, "yeah girl, its funny! put it on. Let him know!". I obviously see nothing wrong with this lol. Anyways, I walk back towards Des Amies because I'm leaving Pa'ia and headed back to work, and swing by Mr. Blue Eyes again. He looked a little surprised to see me (it was five minutes after I left, and honestly I couldn't have eaten a crepe that fast) so I go something along the lines of "you should take my number" and "Cindy told me to attach my blog link" with some other mumbo jumbo, to which he whips out his phone and I have a piece of paper with my information written down. I'm all like "Oh, I wrote it down". ...in true Molly Jensen fashion. LOL I hope you all find this as funny as I do!

Heyo, if you're reading maybe you should call/text/smokescreen/morse code/something. I like mozzarella crepes, red wine, milk chocolate macadamia nuts and L Space bikinis...if you're wondering or anything.

Totes lying. I'll be comfortable with dogs "when pigs fly". This picture was up in the inside part of Des Amies. They get me. They were actually making a cruel joke about me probably.

Also, super fun fact. I met Mickey Eskimo! After spending the night in Maui Meadows, I returned to find one of the most famous windsurfers of all-time in my kitchen. Seriously. Anywho, Sylvia showed him one of Clarissa's pictures of me, looks my way, and exclaims: "Oh my god! You're gorgeous! What a gorgeous picture!". Sylvia has fallen in love with one picture of me and wants to put it on the company FB, show anyone, etc. and I am incredibly embarrassed. hahah, I love attention but it puts me a bit on the spot. Whatever. All you readers better go like my FB status and like "Photography by Clarissa Koenig" (the business page) so that I can help her out! Unbelievable. And she went HAM on putting new pictures of me up. Talk about trying to untag while in Office Max earlier today. Failed, but turned out I liked all (most) of them. Go check em out. Seriously though, please? It's so easy. Just go to my FaceBook and like her page while you're there...

OVER 200 COVERS!! IS THAT REAL LIFE?! Check out his site if you're interested; www.mickey-eskimo.com

In case you haven't had the pleasure of meeting my grandmother, here is the most random FB chat/message I've ever received:
First of all: what is she talking about?!  She hasn't responded to me since September and the only other thing that she would/could be talking about would be Clarissa's pictures...and my eyelids are totally intact. Secondly, her profile picture is from my graduation from GW and she's wearing my cap. Thirdly, for any of my teammates who remember that one tailgate I was running from her...you already know. Fourthly, YES! I'm actually half African. I can still remember the shocks from random people on my graduation as my grandparents walked around in Kente and traditional clothes. BOOOOM.

Wednesday morning Cindy and I have plans to go see Haleakala sunrise!!!!! WOOPWOOOP. Hittin' the biggest bernie wrapped in Patagonia gear and blankets. Hopefully it will be as good as they say!

With warmest aloha,
MJ
